Aura Health Center of Excellence- Radiology Unit

This project involved designing a center of excellence for a acute care healthcare setting, by designing allocated areas for all departments and additional spaces that were required. This project also involved completing drawings such as a floor plan, rendered floor plan, RCP plan, 3D renderings, rendered and non-rendered elevations. Since this project required working in teams, we were each tasked with fully designing an unit within the center. My role then was to design/execute the radiology unit, along with working on the common area spaces. The Aura Health Center of Excellence focuses on enriching the acute care environment for patients, visitors, and staff. Doing so by providing views and human-centered design towards care environments to provide a facility that evokes a sense of wellbeing in a aura of the built environment.

The overall concept for the radiology unit was to create a space that is joyful and calming, through flowing lines and soft organic shapes. Promoting a mind easing experience through the amorphous shapes and harmonious materials in texture. Design is largely drawn from the organic forms of nature, using the integration of natural elements with human behaviors. By using the way that humans can connect to nature to design a holistic environment to integrate users to the space. The design will utilize natural elements and textures to create positive influence patient’s phycology and promote human interaction within the environment by incorporating holistic-minded features. As a large component towards the design concept relates to holistically interactive experiences in design, that reinforces the involvement between users and design. To achieve interaction by every patient area being purposeful and intentional in design allowing visitors to gain comfort within the space. Drawing on elements of nature by additionally incorporating technology integration to promote interaction, utilizing technology within the concept to encourage a holistic mindset and provide therapeutic benefits for patients. The components within the design aim to improve the patients and staff experience by understanding the elements that contribute to holistic-minded design, in relation to organic shapes and elements found in nature. To overall create an experience that integrates user, the connection and integration of nature, design, and technology to embody a mind-easing experience through the organically holistic approach.
