Well-centric Women’s Cardiac Wellness Centre will aid at risk women in lifestyle management practices to propel them to live a heart-healthy life.  The name “Well-centric” signifies the facility’s intent to create a holistic environment, which is inspired by wellness as the key concept for connecting person and place. 

 

Heart disease is the number one cause of death for women in Canada. Hence, the program idea aids to expand the role of wellness towards improving women’s heart health and alleviating cardiac incidents. Specifically, the program will prioritize women’s health through preventive cardiology by offering engaging activities in physical activity, stress management, and education, to instill a motivated mindset among at risk women. The priority of women’s health is reflected in facility’s mission statement, “The Women’s Cardiac Wellness Centre will promote a renewed environment to inspire women with cardiac risk factors to improve upon their heart health, through the practice of preventive cardiology. By offering activities that encourage physical engagement and cultivate social engagement within the community. The facility will empower women, sustain community, and stimulate wellness in the urban city”.

Soft and Strong Design Concept

To achieve an optimal interior environment, the facility design will follow a dynamic design consisting of soft and strong elements. Moreover, the space will be designed to stimulate a sense of wellbeing and cultivate a motivated mindset among users. Interconnected spaces will follow a dynamic design approach, in the juxtaposition between angular forms that will provoke motivation, coupled with radiant biophilic spaces that will inspire wellness. The soft natural materials and strong angular shapes will create a harmonious environment that inspires the positive progression of health, wellbeing, and community.
