The intention for this project was to create and design a new upscale restaurant that is located within an existing building in downtown Toronto. This project entailed creating drawings of floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, and sectional elevations for both floors of the existing building. Along with completing rendered perspectives used to visually depict our concept in design and space planning. Since the project entailed working in teams, we collaborated in developing our concept through the various ideas and themes we both wanted to see represented throughout the space. We divided the execution of work by having me primarily working on the main floor design, and my fellow team member primarily executing the second floor design. Although it was largely collaborative work, we both developed and designed certain design features within the space. I created the design elements including the brass hanging ceiling feature, the entry wall feature, the main dining wall arches, and the upstairs custom seating feature.
The concept of the restaurant revolves around a contemporary Persian garden theme. With the use of enchanting plants and elegant arches that embody the design. The objective of our design was to create an experience through design elements for customers by incorporating textures and features that are both dramatic and dynamic. The concept was also drawn from art deco influence to further our dramatic design approach and capture a moody and inspiring atmosphere that provides an upscale experiences for customers.
